Today I was reminded of the prevalence of contrast in the scriptures. I’m convinced that one of the key ways the scriptures teach is by contrasting one thing against another. Christ/Satan, Light/Dark, Good/Evil, David/Goliath, Nephi/Laman, Freedom/Bondage, Sin/Obedience, Zion/Babylon… it’s everywhere. This is one of many worthwhile lenses through which to explore the scriptures. I hope return to this topic in depth in the future. Meanwhile, for an interesting exercise, contrast Genesis 18 and Genesis 24 comparing what both chapters offer regarding marriage and family.
