Happy Birthday, Family Proclamation

This is not the best picture of my little clan, but it is the most recent. Freezing cold at the top of Cedar Breaks National Monument, enjoying some wholesome recreational activity!

I love the Proclamation to the World on the Family. Twenty years after being delivered by President Gordon B. Hinckley in a General Relief Society Meeting, I cannot think of a single issue facing the family today that it does not address. Many of those issues were barely on society’s radar twenty years ago and now they are center stage. For a powerful exercise, review the Proclamation and list those issues as they are addressed paragraph by paragraph, doctrine by doctrine. The foresight, relevance, and clarity of each sentence will pour out.

I assume more challenges to the family will arise in the future and I trust the Proclamation will address them as well. We believe there are prophets of God on the earth. I can’t think of much stronger proof than this document. I love the Proclamation to the World on the Family.
